The financial institution of the UAE has powers to issue and manage the currency. The name of the currency in urban center and {also the} United Arab Emirates is that the dirham (AED or Arab Emirate Dirham – also normally abbreviated to Dhs or DH). Notes are available in denominations of five, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1,000 dirhams. The writing on the front of the note is in Arabic whereas that on the reverse is English. 1 AED is approx. 18.83 INR.
