Choosing an Institute

In the New Zealand education system, it is important to make your choice of institution according to the course you wish to take and the institution's reputation in that field. If you want to study food technology, for example, find out about the different courses offered and choose by academic criteria such as faculty qualifications, practical work experience opportunities, and so on.

Entry Requirements:

Entry to post-graduate programmes requires a higher level of English, normally IELTS 6.5 - 7.0, and acceptable proof that the academic requirements have been met by way of previous qualifications and study. A number of professional courses will have higher entry standards because of the limited capacity. Appropriate work experience can be a factor for prospective Masters / MBA students.

Tuition Fees:

Tuition fees vary between institutions and the major subject selected. Under-graduate degrees range for NZ$10,000 for Arts/Law up to NZ$18,000+ per year for engineering. Medicine and dentistry fees are even higher. Post-graduate degrees range from NZ$11,000 to NZ$28,000 per year on average.

Academic Year:

Loans upto Rs. 4 Lakhs no collateral security is required. Loans above Rs. 4 Lakhs - collateral security is required.

Type of Institution:

Since there are different types of institutions in New Zealand as mentioned above, this becomes an important factor while choosing the right institution. Student may choose from a university, polytechnic, institute of technology, private institution, etc. depending on their course availability and requirement.
