Entrance Requirements

Students must be eighteen by the start of semester two. The School accepts mature age students with a satisfactory level of work related industry experience. High School leavers must complete their final year examinations with pass levels suitable for University Entrance. International Students must have equivalent to university entrance level and an English language skills level of an IELTS overall band score of 6.0 on the academic training module, or a minimum TOEFL score of 213 (computer adaptive) or 550 (written).

Accommodation

Accommodation is available in twin share or single rooms, each with en-suite facilities. The rooms are large and fully equipped, including a mini fridge, direct dial phone, and a computer. The rooms are serviced weekly and linen and towels are provided. Students receive 3 meals a day during the duration of each academic semester.

Course Outline

The two and a half year diploma course is divided into five semesters. Semesters 1, 3 and 5 are spent at the School, studying various aspects of hotel business and operations. In semesters 2 and 4, students obtain fully paid positions with the assistance of the School in some of New Zealand's top establishments as well as overseas. Year One focuses on focuses on Food and Beverage Management and Year Two places emphasis on Rooms Division Management. The final semester places strong emphasis on management and business studies.

Degree Extension and Articulations Following the completion of their diploma, students can apply for a six-month extension course towards a Bachelor's Degree (Bachelor of Arts of Applied Hospitality and Tourism Management). Students can now study for this degree at the Pacific International Hotel Management Training School.
