Academic background

We have three semesters per year commencing January, May and September. This system allows students to fast track their courses. Dedicated students can complete a diploma and degree in a shorter time than at most traditional institutions, allowing them to enter the workforce more quickly. English Language Programmes start on any Monday, except for the six-weekly test weeks.

Tailored options are available for students who want to combine courses from different programmes. For example, some students chose to do a Bachelor Degree in International Business but also study some papers from the Language and Culture Degree programme, thus giving them a cutting edge in the international business world. Alternatively students may combine their Travel and Tourism studies with three Stage One degree papers, giving them an Advanced Diploma in Travel or Tourism and helping them stand out from the rest when job seeking.

Many opportunities are provided to students and staff alike through our links with overseas organisations. We have affiliations and exchange programmes in place with education providers in Korea, China and Japan.

Accommodation

The AIS St Helens dormitory, located on the Main Campus, provides up to 120 beds in either single or multishare bedrooms. Each room is fully furnished with its own study area and two meals a day are provided in the package.

For students who prefer to live with a family, home stay arrangement is also available. All families are carefully selected by our home stay coordinator and provide an excellent environment for students wishing to practice their English.

Student support is an important feature of AIS St Helens. On campus we have full-time student liaison officers, fluent in a variety of languages, who provide students with ongoing assistance during their programmes of study.

The Industry Liaison Office assists students with preparation for job placement by advising on CV preparation, interview techniques and suitable placement for work experience. As part of the job-seeking process, the office will contact companies identified by the student or graduate and where appropriate, will arrange interviews.
