Overview:

Founded in 1987, Bond - Australia's first full-scale private, not for profit, independent university - is located on Queensland's Gold Coast between the picturesque mountains of a rich hinterland and some of Australia's finest surfing beaches. An hour's drive gets you to Brisbane. The campus, set on an 117ha site with impressive recreational facilities, features a constructed lake and some handsome buildings (including on-campus student residences that house over 500 students).

With a unique tri semester calendar, starting in January, September and May every year, one of the smallest class sizes on average in Australia (10:1 student to academic staff ratio), a total student population of only 2500, combined with state of the art teaching, accommodation, information technology and sporting facilities, Bond University provides the perfect environment for students to excel.

Bond consists of six academic units: the Faculties of Business, Health Sciences, Humanities & Social Sciences, Information Technology, and Law as well as the Institute for Learning Communities. Bond University has achieved remarkable distinction both nationally and internationally. It has earned a formidable reputation for a number of its programs within the Faculties of Business, Law and Humanities & Social Sciences. Because of our commitment to the individual student, some of our courses have been assessed as the best in Australia in the Graduate Careers Council of Australia (GCCA) Course Evaluation Questionnaire (CEQ) surveys of Australian graduates.

Bond university emphasizes instruction in small groups by highly-qualified staff committed to quality in teaching. its smaller classes enable students to receive more individualised instruction and personal assistance with their work. The smaller student numbers provide more access to facilities for individual students.

Bond university admits students on the basis of a comprehensive assessment, including tertiary entrance scores, school results, extracurricular activities and references. they have students who have come to study in Australia from over 60 countries making up approximately half of the student population.

Due to their unique tri-semester academic calendar, it is thus possible for a six-semester program to be completed in two years and an eight-semester program in two years and eight months. A number of three-semester coursework Masters Programs can be completed in twelve months. By being able to fast-track the courses students are able to enter the work force earlier and start earning an income sooner than usual.

Bond also offers students the opportunity to go on an international exchange with one of our 35 partners in over 13 different countries. This is an excellent opportunity for students to gain further international exposure at some of the worlds top institutions. Some of our partners include: University of British Columbia, Duke and Northwestern.

The Faculty of Business is at the forefront of innovation in business education. With a focus on internationalisation, growth and innovation, our courses combine discipline-based excellence with practical application. The independent GCCA CEQ survey indicates that the Faculty of Business provides the best teaching in the MBA program, and undergraduate Accounting and Marketing programs of any university in Australia.

The quality of their programs are illustrated by the performance of their MBA students in the international MOOT CORP - A Venture Planning competition held yearly at the University of Texas, Austin. Many top Business schools, for example Harvard, Carnegie-Mellon, Kellogg School at Northwestern, London Business School, and the Wharton School compete in this competition. Bond have the best performance of any university in the world and have won the competition and unprecedented 3 times (1994, 1996, and 2000).

The Bond Law Faculty provides a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees designed to equip graduates for careers in the legal profession, business, industry and government. The Bond Law approach combines a strong professional orientation, with a blend of academic study, vocationally relevant subjects and training in practical legal skills. The Faculty has expertise in all major areas of law and is well known for its strengths in corporate and commercial law, international trade, dispute resolution, intellectual property, information technology, e-commerce and legal skills. The Faculty has been an innovator in legal education in Australia, and has been ranked the best law school in Australia five times by graduate student surveys conducted by the Graduate Careers Council of Australia.

Bond has produced outstanding graduates from all schools, including Glen Leighton, Rhodes Scholar (LLB Hons 1993), and Sartaj Singh Gill, Cambridge Scholar (BIT/LLB Hons 1994).

Bond university is very proud of the fact that their graduates are not only able to find work upon graduation but are actively sought after by a number of prestigious national and international employers and recruitment agencies.

Accomodation

There are three different accommodation options:

• Individual or twin-share hotel-style on campus accommodation ranges from $200 - $300 per week including two meals daily
• Private rental off campus. Accommodation on the Gold Coast averages from $180-$350 per week for a two bedroom house (unfurnished). From $220-$450 per week for a two-three bedroom unit fully furnished
• "Home stay" option, which has students living with an Australian family. Cost of $175 per week including two meals during week days and three meals on weekends.

Scholarship Availability

Bond university awards a limited number of scholarships to applicants commencing full-time degree programs. Scholarships may also be available to students within the university who achieve outstanding results.
